Five Easy Paragraphs: Writing the Ideal Introduction and Conclusion In-Person
The ideal introduction to a research paper evokes a world, invokes a science, and states a conclusion. The world should be familiar but interesting, the science should be characterized by a consensus or a controversy, and the conclusion should be theoretically significant and empirically true. This session will present a strategy for writing a three-paragraph introduction and a two-paragraph conclusion in two and a half hours that can then be adapted to the needs of any paper in the social sciences.
