WETO seminar with Shanti Sumartojo

'Rethinking impact through creative methods':

An interactive seminar with Shanti Sumartojo

Organized by The Work, Expertise, Technology, Organization (WETO) group

Date: September 1, 2025 from 12.00 - 14.00

Location: Copenhagen Business School, Kilevej 14 A, 2000 Frederiksberg, Room K4.74 (4th floor)

What if impact wasn't something that came after research, but an integral part of the research process itself? What if impact wasn't simply about disseminating insights and findings, but about engaging people in collaborative knowledge-creating experiences? What if impact wasn't something that was communicated solely through words and numbers, but had to be felt and enacted? Such questions are at the heart of this interactive seminar with Shanti Sumartojo, Associate Professor of Design Research at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

At the seminar, Shanti will first talk about the work that she is doing at Monash University with the research group known as WonderLab. Here, she will focus on how research impact can be achieved through creative methods and design thinking. To make this point more tangible, Shanti will demonstrate one particular design method that she often uses in her research on anticipatory policymaking. The method is known as CAMP, and it involves participants imagining that they are going on summer camp with their colleagues at work. Shanti and her team have employed this method with a wide variety of organizations, incl. the United Nations and the State Library of Victoria.

Join us for an afternoon of fun and engaging interactions about impact, creative methods, design thinking, action research, and much more. For questions, contact Emil Husted at eh.ioa@cbs.dk
