Reproducible Workflows and Replication Packages Online
Struggling to rerun old projects, keep track of changes, or burn hours turning analyses into publishable workflows?
This session introduces the core building blocks of reproducible research and shows how to put them into practice today with the research-template, bringing everything together in a single, practical workflow.
In the session we’ll cover:
- Set up a clear, reusable project structure for transparency and repeatability.
- Track code and data changes with version control tools such as Git, DataLad, or DVC—and choose the right fit for your project.
- Control software dependencies with virtual environments: UV or Conda for Python, renv for R.
- Collaborate on code using Git-based workflows on GitHub, GitLab, or Codeberg.
- Back up code and data regularly and safely.
- Assemble a DCAS-aligned replication package with the right structure and metadata.
You’ll be able to start straight away by following a live walkthrough of the research-template which sets up everything for you and streamlines your path to a reproducible workflow.
You’ll leave with
- A clear understanding of the core elements of a reproducible workflow.
- A practical introduction to state-of-the-art tools that enable it.
- Access to the research-template, so you can get started immediately—without the hassle of configuring a bunch of technical tools.
- Knowledge and skills that will save you hours on future projects.
