With Justine Grønbæk Pors, Associate Professor at Department of Business Humanitites and Law at Copenhagen Business School

Date: November 10, 2025.13.30 -15.00

Location: Copenhagen Business School, Kilevej 14 A, 2000 Frederiksberg, in Room K4.74 (4th floor)

Abstract
Questions about the agencies of the past in the present are increasingly attracting attention. This talk is part of a conversation about the multiple and complex relationships and connections between pasts, presents, and futures in organizations. With a theory of organisational ghosts and an empirical study of educational institutions in Denmark, the talk explores how organizations are haunted by those values, concerns, and practices that have been forgotten, expelled, or disavowed from organizational knowledge and language.

Justine will introduce the concept of inherited time to theorise non-linear time. Doing empirical studies with a non-linear theory of time requires methodological experimentation. In this talk, Justine will present a hauntological approach apt to engage with what has been forgotten or removed from organizational presents, zooming in on how such absences hold agentic powers in relationship to work and subjectivity.
