Write a Data Management Plan for your Research Project Online
Research data are central to your research, but managing them responsibly throughout a project can be challenging. Questions about documentation, storage, security, sharing, and archiving often arise, and it can be difficult to know where to start.
A data management plan (DMP) helps you think through these questions early and create a structured approach to managing your data throughout the research lifecycle.
What you will gain
- An introduction to the purpose and value of data management planning
- An overview of commonly used DMP templates and when to use them
- Practical guidance on documenting, storing, sharing, and preserving research data
- Hands-on experience with DeiC DMP, the free DMP tool provided by DeiC
Why it matters
A well-designed DMP helps you stay organized, collaborate more effectively, and address funder and institutional requirements. By planning ahead, you can reduce risks related to data loss, security, and documentation, while making your research more transparent and reusable.
Who is it for?
Researchers and PhD students who are starting a new research project, or would like practical support in developing a data management plan.
How it works
1.5-hour session with presentation, demonstrations, and practical guidance.
Participants are encouraged to bring a current or upcoming research project, as you will have an opportunity to begin drafting your own DMP during the session.
